Cathedral Rock, Crescent Moon Ranch

Reportedly, Cathedral Rock is one of the most photographed locations in Arizona, if not in the USA as well. In our past visits to Crescent Moon Ranch, landscape photography has been quite a challenge due to on-site weddings, hoards of picnickers and countless cairns (stacked rocks) marking "vortex" areas.

Likewise, photography was real challenge during my most recent visit, when an Arizona Highways photography workshop brought 20 or more photographers right to my favorite creekside spot for sunset photos. Everyone was exceptionally courteous and we all kind of took turns shooting, with tripod legs crisscrossing in every direction. The out-of-state workshop participants were truly enthralled with the iconic Arizona scenery, telling me how lucky we are to live in the scenic Southwest. I could not agree more, as I contemplate our next return visit to heart warming Sedona.
